The licensing system for BizTalk Server 2000 is based on a per-CPU pricing model. Purchasing client seats or Internet connector licenses is not required for BizTalk Server 2000.The Developer edition retails for $499 (unlimited CPUs), Standard edition $4,999 (one CPU), and the Enterprise edition at $24,999 (one CPU). All prices are in U.S. dollars and are the estimated retail.

If you have a series of Web servers as the front end for you applications, you should use message queues to submit documents to the BizTalk servers. This is due to the fact that if you install the BizTalk Server COM Object, ¬°Interchange, which allows for submitting documents to BizTalk Server programmatically, on your Web server, you will have to purchase a BizTalk Server 2000 license for each CPU of your BizTalk server and for each CPU on your Web server.
